Rainy Days In The BIG EASY...

Well, I didn't make it down to the French Quarters the next day because the heavens opened up and it absolutely FLOODED in New Orleans...

As you can see,  New Orleans still has drainage problems...

Instead, we ran around the corner to La Madeleine for a little lunch...

Afterwards we did what anybody would do on a rainy day...

                                                                       NAP, of course!

Earlier in the day, Robby decided that we would eat in that night and that it was high time for David to learn how to make home made pizza.  While we had been napping, the dough had been rising and by dinner time, it was ready to be rolled out and made into some pizzas!

David was a little scared about throwing the flour on the counter; afraid that he would make a terrible mess he would have to clean up.

Robby explained how to press the dough down and around in the flour to get ready for rolling it out.

He rolled out the dough for the crust...

Placed the ingredients on them and baked our pizzas.  David did a GREAT job!  He is my only child that really doesn't do much cooking so I was really proud of him.

After dinner, I got to thinking about a place I had seen but never visited that had some pretty delicious looking desserts...Sucre!

Sucre was featured on The Food Network so, of course, I wanted to see what it was all about!

Robby was looking over all of the sweet treats available.

                                                                       From cupcakes...

To the yummy macaroons they are famous for...

To all sorts of gooey, delicious looking desserts!

These guys look satisfied with their choices!

Returning home with full tummies, we watched some more of the Olympics and then retired for the evening.

The next day we would be leaving after Robby finished up with a little work in town and I would DEFINITELY be going to the French Quarters to do that "little something" I had been wanting to do for a while...

Down by Jackson Square, there is a little knitting shop (you should have known!) that I had previously visited...

                                                                     The Quarter Stitch!

When I first met them, the owners were so friendly and told me if I was ever in town and needed help with anything, just to stop by and they would be happy to assist me.  Well, there was one little thing I had been struggling with...making socks!  You see, one must knit with 4 needles to make socks and although I had watched videos online, I could just never get the hang of it.  So, with Robby in tow, we entered The Quarter Stitch, where I set out to learn how to make socks!

As it turned out, knitting with 4 needles wasn't that difficult at all!

I left out of there with a skein a yarn, a set of 5 double-pointed needles and a new pattern.  Isn't their packaging cute?!

Our business was complete in New Orleans, but HEY!  It was lunch time.  We NEEDED to grab some lunch down in the Quarters before heading home...

                                                           This place looked inviting...

And a fish po-boy just hit the spot!

This was the view from the open air restaurant we had chosen in Jackson Square.

So long, New Orleans!  We hope to see ya again real soon...
