Thank Ya, "Mr. Starbucks"!

This story is just too cute not to share it with you.  It is fall and during this time of year I LOVE to drink Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte;  I don't even usually go to Starbucks at any other time of the year.  To date, this year I have consumed 3 of these drinks.  I always ask for the smallest size and for  low-fat milk to be used so I can still have the whipped cream on top.  PLEASE do NOT tell me how many calories they have in them because this is just one of my "seasonal guilty pleasures" and I do not want it ruined (Thank You!).  And, although, I long for these things on any given day, I limit myself to having only one per week.  Well, Monday was to be that day...And here's what happened.

I needed to go to get a few groceries.  Wal-Mart was definitely closer BUT...Kroger was the store that had the Starbucks inside it.  And so I traveled a little further and went to Kroger specifically for that Pumpkin Spice Latte.  I went through the store, got all of my items and checked out.  And THEN ambled over to get in line at the Starbucks counter.  My mouth was drooling and  I was digging in my purse when this elderly gentleman approached me.  He leaned over and in a hushed voice, as though letting me in on a guarded secret, said, "They got free coffee in the deli for seniors."  Well, crap!  I knew I should've fixed myself up a bit before leaving the house.  He asked, "You 55 yet?"  Still digging for the correct change in my purse, I smiled (yes, I actually did smile!) and replied, "No, I'm afraid not."  THEN he said, "Well, it don't matter; you can just tell them you are."  OH MAN!!!  But for some strange reason this old guy wasn't really getting under my skin; I suppose it could be that I was SO focused on getting that Pumpkin Spice Latte.  Thinking that he would just turn and leave  (because, seriously...I was beginning to notice that he WAS sorta getting in my space...), he had to give it one more try.  "They sell coffee for 75 cents over there too.  It's better than giving 4 dollars to "Mr. Starbucks"."  I simply moved up in the line and he moved on, correctly assuming that I was a lost cause.

I told Robby about this story and he sort of chuckled.  Then about an hour later (after obviously thinking about it for a while...), he found me and said, "I'm really surprised that you didn't knock that old guy across the room; you don't look 55."  Now THAT'S just another reason I love that guy so much!  He's good like... that taking up for me and all.  I said, "Well, he was an old guy and for some reason it just didn't bother me.  I can't explain it...I just guess my hormones were all lined up properly for the moment."  OR...It COULD be that the thought of getting that Low-Fat Pumpkin Spice Latte with Whipped Cream on top just had me in the best mood ever!  SO...Here's to you, "Mr. Starbucks", Thank Ya!...I LOVE fall and those Pumpkin Spice Lattes of yours!
